Construction of Sri Lankan Kaluganga Dam is going smoothly

The construction of the main dam for the KaluGanga Dam project in Sri Lanka is under construction currently.

The project includes a main dam, sub-dam, spillway, diversion tunnel, bottom orifice, water conveyance tunnel, irrigation tunnel, right bank orifice for the sub-dam, and more.

The project's contract period is 57 months, with an additional two-year guarantee period. The project started on April 2, 2014 and is expected to be completed on Dec 25, 2018.

The plan is to fill 3.5 million cubic meters of concrete for the main dam annually. To date, 1.98 million cu m have been filled.

Constructors carried out a field survey on June 15, 2017 and increased the daily fill amount from 7,000 cu m to 10,000 cu m to make sure the project will be finished on time.
