The baroque cathedrals in Prague, capital of the Czech Republic, display the country's elegance and vintage style. Both the Czech Republic and Ningbo are the pilgrimages for "literary and artistic" youth. The beauty of Ningbo lies in its Jiangnan (south of Yangtze River) culture while the inland country Czech Republic boasts an eclectic art style going through different ages. However, the two different characteristics can combine in harmony.
Ningbo and the Czech Republic enjoyed close cooperation and frequent exchanges in recent years. Czech enterprises frequently sent delegations to Ningbo to showcase their specialty food while Ningbo government promotes educational exchanges with the Czech schools. Dongqian Central Primary School in Yinzhou district of Ningbo has become sister schools with Czech’s Plzen No 22 Primary School and have been carrying on cultural exchange activities.
Ningbo and the Czech Republic have enjoyed growth in various fields in recent years, especially in foreign trade. The total export and import volume between Ningbo and the Czech Republic rose by 12 percent in 2014. Czech plastic products and drinking containers were well-received by Ningbo locals whilst Ningbo’s apparels and lighting products won high praise from Czech enterprises. By the end of 2014, three Ningbo investment projects in the Czech Republic have been approved. Correspondingly, 12 Czech projects in auto parts, coating material and knitting products were sanctioned to invest in Ningbo. Ningbo is set to have more cooperation with the Czech Republic in other fields in future, too.
