Ningbo’s export of small household appliances amounted to 25.33 billion yuan ($4.05 billion) in 2014, an increase of 5.2 percent over the previous year, according to Ningbo customs. However, the growth rate fell 9.8 percent over 2013.

Private enterprises made up the main force of exports with an export value of 19.96 billion yuan, rising 8.9 percent over 2013. This accounted for 78.8 percent of the total number of exports from the city.

The EU and the USA are the two main export markets for Ningbo. Together, their export values were 8.11 billion yuan and 6.56 billion yuan, an increase of 7.7 percent and 6.5 percent, respectively. Exports to the EU and USA accounted for 57.9 percent of Ningbo’s total export.

The exports from the cities of Cixi and Yuyao, within the Ningbo area, amounted to 13.04 billion yuan and 7.02 billion yuan, respectively, accounting for 57.9 percent of Ningbo’s total export. Exports increased 3.9 percent in Cixi and 6.3 in Yuyao compared to 2013.

The export of Ningbo’s small household appliances had grown at a slower pace. Therefore, experts say that Ningbo must upgrade its industries and pay attention to e-business platforms in order to maintain stable sustainable growth.
