The piano in Lang Lang Piano Plaza was relocated to Jiuwu Culture City on Oct 28, in a bid to avoid the cold of Shenyang’s bitterly cold winters.

Lang Lang Piano Plaza made its debut at Shenyang Heping Sports Park on Aug 7. It got its name from the world-famous pianist Lang Lang –– who was born in Shenyang, Liaoning province on June 14, 1982. The plaza highlights the piano donated by Lang Lang.

According to information from Shenyang government, piano recitals will take place outdoors at Lang Lang Piano Plaza from June to October; and during the rest of the year, performances will be held at Jiuwu Culture City –– which is on Taiyuan Street in the city’s Heping district.

The relocation of the piano marked the beginning of Jiuwu Piano Performance Season, which runs from October to June next year.

“There are piano recitals from award-winning international piano competitions and students from art colleges every weekend,” said Zhu Xiaodong, general manager of Wujiu Culture City.

Piano performances to mark festivals and anniversaries will also take place to promote music to Shenyang residents, Zhu said.
