The third “Summer of Hunhe River” Culture Festival concluded at Yunyang Pavilion in Shenyang on Sept 17, with a concert performed by Dalian City International Symphony Orchestra.
The event, sponsored by Heping district’s government, had been running since May 31.
Tourists and local residents had the opportunity to take part in over 400 activities during the event, including enjoying free performances, outdoor cinema, sampling local customs, and joining in sports competitions such as canoeing, roller-skating and walking.
The majority of the indoor activities were held in Yunyang Pavilion –– a replica pavilion built in the traditional style of the Liao Dynasty (916-1125) which served as a professional performance venue.
This year’s event featured the mass participation of volunteers. It is anticipated that over 25,000 volunteers participated in the culture festival, with the total service time exceeding 120,000 hours.
The culture festival, which has been successfully held for the past three years, serves as an important platform for Shenyang to promote its local culture and reputation.
