The first batch of auto parts for BMW’s manufacturing base in Shenyang arrived at Shendong logistics center on a newly-launched special train on Sept 4.
The train starts in Shanghai, passes through the North China region, before finally arriving in Shenyang city in Northeast China. It’s a special train launched to carry auto parts manufactured in the factories in Shanghai, Zhejiang and Jiangsu to Shenyang BMW manufacturing base, which is only 5 kilometers away from Shendong logistics center.
The new train service will significantly cut the costs of auto parts transportation and avoid the problems that often occur in highway transportation, according to a staff member from BMW.
Compared with highway transportation, the train will also reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 26 percent.
