A delegation led by the deputy director of Shenyang tourism committee paid a visit to Hebei province on Aug 14, as part of a move to promote Shenyang’s tourism resources and products to Hebei residents.
Over 100 travel agencies from Shijiazhuang and Shenyang attended the tourism promotion event held in Shijiazhuang on Aug 14. A promotional video was also played at the meeting to introduce Shenyang’s unique tourism attractions.
The city of Shenyang, on the Liaoning Peninsula, is the capital of Liaoning province and an economic, cultural, transportation, commerce and trade center for Northeast China. It covers a 13,000-square-kilometer area and has a population of 8.29 million.
Its history dates back at least 2,300 years and it is known as the birthplace of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), and was the capital during the reign of two Qing emperors.
It contains an imperial palace, which is on UNESCO's World Heritage List, along with the Fuling Tomb of Nurhachi, the founding emperor of the dynasty, and Zhao Mausoleum of Huang Taiji, the second emperor of the dynasty. It also contains the mansion of Chang Tso-lin, a famous general during the late Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) who had a great influence on early modern China, and more than 1,000 relics.
Shenyang’s unique culture and history, together with its excellent tourism facilities, helped it become part of the first batch of excellent tourism cities.
Sun Ruifeng, deputy director of Shijiazhuang tourism committee gave a warm welcome to the Shenyang delegation, and expressed his hopes that the two cities could strengthen cultural communications and get better at promoting their tourist attractions by learning from each other.
