A total of 25 million people visited Taiyuan Street in Northeast China’s Shenyang city during this year’s Taiyuan Street fashion festival, which concluded on Oct 10.
The swell of visitors, including five million tourists from outside Shenyang, generated about 10 billion yuan ($1.5 billion) during the four- month long fashion festival.
Taiyuan Street, with a history of around 100 years dating back to the Qing Dynasty (1644-1912), is the most successful commercial district in Shenyang, integrating shopping, eating and entertainment.
During the festival, Taiyuan Street offered multiple entertainment options for visitors encompassing around 500 artistic performances, 150 film screenings and activities themed around soccer, food, the Olympic Games, literature and art.
The festival is also a good platform for businesses to promote brand names and boost sales. It attracted many famous businesses to the event, such as Bayerische Motoren Werke (BMW), and Evergrande, a Chinese enterprise integrating real estate, finance, the Internet, health, tourism, culture and sports.
The fashion festival not only provided an entertainment for visitors, but also helped promote the Taiyuan Street area.
