Updated: 2016-09-10
The Shenyang Xuesong Economic Development Zone was established in 1991, with a planned area of 8 square kilometers, in a "one center, three districts" layout with a nonferrous metal new materials district, ferrous metal new materials district, producer services district, and a technology innovation center for metals.
It became a municipal development zone, in 2002, with Shenyang government approval, then was promoted to a provincial economic development zone, in 2006, by the Liaoning provincial government, and, in 2012, made new metal materials its major industry, with provincial government approval.
The nonferrous metal new materials district focuses on high-performance aluminum alloy plates, magnesium alloy fabrication, precious metal fabrication, and alloys such as titanium-nickel-chromium-zirconium-copper. The ferrous metal new materials district focuses on automotive blanks, for auto manufacturing materials, thin silicon steel strips, tools, molds, and high-performance rare earth magnetic materials, while the producer services district focuses on finance, modern logistics, information, vocational training, and science and technology services.
The development zone is expected to become a new materials industry base, a national ecological demonstration site, and a high-tech technology industry base over a 10-year period. Over the past two decades, it has expanded, adding roads, drainage system, greening, a pipe network, heating, water, electric power, gas and communications, broadband, and cable TV.
Currently projects under construction are for Chinalco titanium and nickel new materials, DongLi titanium industry, and Jinton new materials science and technology industrial park, others have been completed for Guangdong Fenglu, HST Metals Titanium Products R&D Center, and Guizhou Steel Rope.
It also has strategic cooperation agreements with institutions of higher education and scientific research institutes at home and abroad for the application of research findings and to support the development zone.
The zone welcomes any enterprise in metal new materials and new materials processing interested in investing or developing here or institutions of higher education interested in cutting-edge technology and products for commercialization.
