Cinemas in Liaoning province are doing a good business and seem to have entered a "golden age" as part of a film industry boom in China, with box office receipts of 1.7 billion yuan ($262 million) in 2015 and putting it in the 8th place nationwide.
The province showed a record-breaking year-on-year growth of 50 percent, or 2nd in China thanks to an increased interest in the silver screen. The province also added 27 cinemas in 2015, bringing the total number to 216 and at the same time saw remarkable progress in its own film production and distribution.
And this past January, its box office take hit 144 million yuan, for a year-on-year growth of 37.7 percent, indicating that the boom in the 2015 cinema business is continuing in 2016, according to industry insiders.
