The biggest shield tunneling machine in Asia has had a successful trial run this week at the Northern Heavy Industries (Group) Co, according to Shenyang Daily, in the city of Shenyang, capital of Liaoning province.

The new machine is 100 meters long and has a diameter of 14.1 meters and is expected to be transported to Hong Kong soon for road tunnel excavation.

The Shenyang-based company specializes in tunnel boring machines and has already received 20 orders this year, with more than half worth at least 100 million yuan ($16.1 million) each, and set for use all over the world, including Oceania, Europe and the Middle East. Company officials have said that in 2015 they will focus on global expansion, in Southeast Asia, South Asia, Turkey, South America and Africa.
