The Wanda Square foundation stone laying ceremony was held on March 21, 2012 in Dandong, Liaoning province.

Dai Yulin, secretary of the Party committee, Shiguang, mayor of Dandong, and Wang Xinqin, vice-president of the Dalian Wanda Commercial Properties Co Ltd, along with other leaders, attended the ceremony.

"As a key construction project for Dandong, the Wanda square will greatly improve the city's service level," said Shi Guang. The local government will provide support and help in construction. He also hoped the Wanda Group would properly organize the project construction, accelerate its construction speed, ensure construction quality and build a new city business district in Dandong. Shi expressed his expectations to develop greater cooperation with the Wanda Group as well.

Wang Xinqi said the development of Dandong and the new opportunities in the city give the Wanda Group confidence. The group will build the Dandong Wanda Square with a brand new business model and make contributions to Dandong's development.

With an investment of 8 billion yuan ($1.27 billion), the Wanda Square covers a gross floor area of 1,150,000 square meters. The square project contains a five-star hotel, an office building, a large shopping mall, a walking street and high grade houses. Large chain supermarkets, Van's Department Store, the Wanda movie theatre, home appliances chain markets and more than one hundred brand stores will open in the square.
