Qingshangou National Scenic Area is located in the town of Qingshangou in Kuandian county, 60 kilometers from Kuandian county, 160 kilometers from Dandong and 245 kilometers from Shenyang.
With a total area of 127.4 square kilometers, Qingshangou Scenic Area comprises four scenic areas: Qingshan Lake, Waterfall Stream, Hutang Ditch" and Chinese Manchu-Style Garden. There are 126 scenic spots of ancient forests, perfect mountain stones, a river gorge and lake, quiet streams and 36 large and small waterfalls.
This integration of Manchu folk culture against a beautiful landscape was praised as "a place for gods to live" by Singapore News Organization. UNESCO, through satellite observations, determined it to be one of the world's six major pollution-free areas.
Qingshan Lake is 50 kilometers long and its clear waters run 30 to 120 meters deep. Some trees in the area are more than 10 meters high and more than 260 years old. "Ice in Hot Summer" is a unique view of Qingshan Lake, because even on hot summer days, people can see what appears to be ice the size of goose eggs among the stones. At dawn, a white mist bursts from "Ice in Hot Summer” appears over the lake and lingers.
Waterfall Stream Area is famous for Liaoning province's largest waterfall, which is called Qingshan Waterfall. The erosion-carved terrain here is very significant, so there are deep groove canyons and many cliffs. Green mountain spring water tumbles down from a 32-meter-high cliff. Fairy Lake is located downstream from Qingshan Waterfall. Clean water overflows from the lake and s through dark brown boulders.
Other natural landscapes are called "Black Bear Looking into Moon", "Tiger Waterfall," "Tiger Back" and "Tiger Den". A natural attraction named "Nine-Twist Haven Water" has been called the soul of Hutang Ditch. Springs, after several twists and turns, are spectacular.
