Guangzhou recruitment expo
After its first Guangzhou edition last year, the Job Fair for Foreigners is back in 2012.
On April 21, the Fair will have career opportunities in teaching, engineering, media, management, marketing, finance and technology. Hosted by ‘Chinajob.com’, the Fair is the sole event authorized by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of the People’s Republic of China; and the Guangzhou Municipal Government’s Foreign Experts Bureau is supporting the Guangzhou fair.

Last year, that’s PRD attended the Fair and there was a large turnout by expats. The majority of the Fair’s booths did focus on the education and training sector, however the jobs on offer were for significantly higher positions with better conditions - than the average foreign teacher's pay in Guangzhou. Like most exercises in China, face-to-face meetings are invaluable in evaluating available opportunities; and the Fair is excellent for assessing potential employers (and bypassing job agencies).
Even if you are not in the market for a new job, the Fair is also an excellent opportunity to estimate the value of your skills in the market for the next performance review or while negotiating a new contract. Admission is free for all foreigners; however, it is advisable that you register in advance (www.jobfair.chinajob.com). For the latest updates about the Fair, follow Chinajob on Sina Weibo (www.weibo.com/u/2610160027).
