NE China scientists get top national honors

Three scholars in Jilin province have been named members of two leading research institutes, it was announced on Dec 7, with one joining the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and the other two joining the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) chemistry faculty.

An Lijia, another new CAS academic, is a polymer physicist. |
Jiang Huilin, of the Changchun University of Science and Technology, with 70 other new academics joins the CAE at its Information and Electronic Engineering faculty because of his specialty applied optical technology.
Yu Jihong, a professor at Jilin University works in inorganic chemistry and has a number of research awards including the Bau Family Award for outstanding achievements, while An Lijia is a polymer physicist at CAS's Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry.
These three new appointments give Jilin province a total of 23 academics with these two leading national honors in science, technology and engineering. The appointments are made every two years.
