Jilin province has announced that it now has China's biggest 3-D printed statue, which stands 15 meters tall and weighs 13.6 tons, chinajilin.com.cn has reported on Nov 18.

The sculpture is in the city of Baicheng and has the name Fenghuangtengda ("successful in one's career") is the work of a leading sculptor, Wei Xiaoming, who has spent two years on the project

Wei says that he got the inspiration from images of a legendary horse in Chinese folk tales, then used his imagination to make a vibrant, strong version of it.

Workers had to spend nearly a week setting the statue in place, where It is surrounded by seven other 3-D printed statues. This 3-D printing technique has applications in a wide range of fields, including manufacturing and home appliances.
