The Changchun Film Studio held a film-making seminar, in Beijing on Oct 12, to honor its 70th anniversary, according to a chinajilin.com.cn report of Oct 21, which goes on to explain that the participants discussed China's and the film studio's progress in recent decades, and ways to transform China's film industry on the seminar.

In commenting on Changchun Film Studio's contribution to China's film industry, Gao Fuping, head of the Jilin Provincial Department of Publicity, said, "The Changchun Film Studio differs from other culture enterprises by being the cradle of New China's film industry and the embodiment of a time and has become an icon of Chinese culture."

Liu Lijuan, the film studio's managing director, gave a brief description of their development and said they will use the ideas from the seminar for future development, while Zhang Hongsheng, head of the State General Administration of Press and Publication, Radio and TV's film bureau, suggested that the studio follow a development road with Chinese characteristics for the new age.

Sponsors of the seminar were the Jilin Provincial Department of Publicity and the Changchun Film Studio Group. Taking part were representatives of the State General Administration of Press and Publication, Radio and TV, the China Film Association, China Railway Construction Corp, Jilin Political Consultative Conference, Jilin Provincial Department of Publicity, and Changchun Film Studio Group.
