The Jilin Museum has offered a two-week free exhibition with more than one hundred clothes on display including Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) Kangxi Emperor’s winter dress since January 19.
Talking the significance of the Qing’s clothing, Zhang Shujuan, from the provincial museum, said it plays an important role in the evolution of Chinese clothing history.
“Its style has greatly influenced China’s contemporary clothing culture,” Zhang said. “For example, Manchu women’s one-piece gown ‘known as qipao’ has remained as a fashion item for modern Chinese women.”
During the exhibition, the museum will deliver public lectures on Qing’s clothing culture.
