Jiang Chaoliang, governor of China’s Jilin province, inspected Antu county of the Yanbian Korean autonomous prefecture on January 13-14 to help lift many rural families in the area out of poverty by developing local agriculture industries.

During his visit of Fuxing village, Jiang said greenhouse vegetable planting is an important way to increase farmer incomes, stressing that the local government needs to help locals expand the scale of planting and markets.

"E-commerce is an important platform for local farmers to sell their products to various markets," the governor said.

"We need to work from our strengths, such us abundant natural resources, to help farmers get rich."

"Lifting farmers out of poverty also should improve their living conditions," Jiang added.

The provincial government will put emphasis on upgrading infrastructure of rural areas and local social welfare as part of the rural development plan.

Zhang Anshun, Party secretary of the Yanbian Korean autonomous prefecture, and other governmental officials accompanied Jiang’s inspection.
