Northeastern cuisines, Sichuan food, barbecues and Korean food are quite popular among diners in Changchun, the capital city of Jilin province, where restaurant businesses face fierce competition.

Some of the restaurants’ owners are beginning to pay special attention to interior design to attract more guests to maintain their profits.

According to a Changchun local diner, the restaurants are imitating the interior design of Northeastern farmyards with the kang bed-stove,a heated brick bed commonly seen in northern China, and are well-received among Changchun residents.

"We enjoy a country life and keep our peace of mind while eating there," a diner said.
