Nanchang city announced details of the Hong Kong Carnival at a press conference on Aug 29.
The event will take place at the Nanchang International Sports Center between Sept 7 and Oct 21. Hours of operation will be 5 - 10 pm weekdays and 10 am to midnight weekends. People will have free access to bus lines designed for the carnival.
The carnival event consists of six parts and is free of charge. During the event, a themed party will be held every week and an open-air film will be shown every Thursday evening. In addition, a parent-child park will open every weekend and a large beer festival will be staged during the National Day holiday from Oct 1 to 7.
A carnival is a traditional European festival and equivalent to Chinese temple fairs. Carnivals have become a grand gathering for mass celebration, involving multiple arts and cultural activities. Nowadays, various cities around the world have developed their own carnivals, many of which are regarded as the symbol of the city.
As Hong Kong Carnival's first opening in Jiangxi province, Nanchang will give full play to the spirit of extensive mass entertainment, striving to build the province as a favorable tourist destination.
