The Suzhou Institute of Technology of Jiangsu University of Science and Technology in Zhangjiagang has launched online courses to help students continue their studies during the COVID-19 outbreak.
Teachers are using online platforms such as QQ, WeChat and professional online teaching apps to provide lessons for the new semester.
The institute’s electromechanical and motivation school has been working to develop online courses since before the outbreak. An online database of practice problems and tests has also been set up.
According to Gong Lihua, vice-president of the institute, the digitalization efforts are part of the institute’s reform plan, and the delay of the new semester has simply expedited the implementation of those plans.
To ensure teachers can adapt to the new teaching method as soon as possible, the institute also organized a series of training sessions on teaching ideas, online curriculum design, and how to use relevant applications.
A supervision team was also set up to guarantee the quality of online teaching.
