Zhangjiagang Park reopened to the public on Feb 14 after five-month's reconstruction, ready to provide local residents with a new place for recreation and exercise.
The Zhangjiagang government invested 25 million yuan and renovated 151,000 square meters of the park to change its function and promote its service quality.
The project included seven sub-items such as municipal landscaping, greening promotion, toilet construction and renovation, a street lighting system, and monitoring equipment improvements.
The park has introduced the concept of sponge city construction using permeable material for roads and rainwater for irrigation. Jogging paths have also been built.
It is hoped the public space will become a center for cultural experience, sightseeing, recreation and exercise.
