Enjoy stunning theatrical performances in Zhangjiagang

A series of stunning theatrical performances were unveiled on the stage of Fenghuang Culture Center, Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu province on Nov 4.
Performers were from the Plum Blossom Prize Art Troupe of Jiangsu Theatre Association, and almost all of them were previous winners of the Plum Blossom Award, China's highest prize for drama. Over 300 villagers, staff members and students from 19 villages had the chance to see the classic art feast.
Chen Yunxia, a winner of the Plum Blossom Award, wowed the audience with her elegant voice and gorgeous red costume.
Li Yijie, a first-class actor and also a winner of the Plum Blossom Award, performed a Peking Opera story about a young woman who sacrificed her life for the revolution. She vividly presented the heroine's inner feelings, drawing huge applause from the spectators.
"It's my great honor to come to Zhangjiagang to perform for local people, and I feel so delighted to have received such a positive reaction," Li said.
In addition to the opera performances, humorous sketches, comedy skits and stunning magic show also amused the audience.
Xu Hong, a winner of the Splendor Award, China's highest award for theatrical artworks, won the biggest ovation of the night for a wonderful performance of the the puppet show Face/Off.
Xu said that a performance couldn't be considered successful unless it appeals to ordinary spectators, and that she hoped to have more opportunities to perform in Zhangjiagang.
