The 2016 Cross-Straits (Zhangjiagang) Agriculture Expo opened from Nov 18 to 21 at the port city's stadium, and attracted some 80,000 visitors with total sales reaching about 20 million yuan ($ 2.9 million).
As a parallel economic event of the 2016 China (Zhangjiagang) Yangtze River Culture and Art Festival, the expo played host to over 200 stands, exhibiting unique agricultural products from Zhangjiagang and Taiwan.
The towns and districts of the port city all showcased their treasured agricultural specialties. The Economic Development Zone displayed its lingzhi (ganoderma lucidum), an expensive mushroom that is believed by many Chinese to have special life-giving properties. The Free Bonded Zone exhibited its fresh water pearl necklace, and Tangqiao town shared its famous and nutritious green-shell eggs and organic rice.

Accompanying the expo were some excellent shows from Kangkang, a performing team from Taiwan, which garnered much appreciation from visitors.
