The children's welfare home in Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu province, in cooperation with the local civil affairs bureau and volunteer association, launched an "Open Day" themed event on May 30 to celebrate International Children's Day.

Many residents and enterprises gathered around the basketball court of the welfare home in the evening. The organizer sent trophies to several individuals and companies to honor their love and support for the public welfare sector.

"Every year, I came here to give some donations with the wish that these children can grow up healthy and happy just like my child," said Ji Xiaolei, one of the event participants.

The martial arts performance by a group of children volunteers unveiled the celebration event. Singing, dances and musical instruments brightened the children up in the welfare home.

In the melody of the song "Happy Birthday", kids and visitors blew out the candles to celebrate this year's Children's Day.

The event is expected to help society know more about the welfare home and send care to the needed children. Last year, the welfare home received more than 400 groups of visitors.
