Wuyue Square of Zhangjiagang city witnessed a large charity cultural performance on May 29. Local residents from all walks of life gave wonderful performances to collect donations to realize the school dreams of poor children.
Launched by the charity organization "52 Love Alliance", the event came to its fourth year with more than 200,000 yuan ($30,387) raised over the last three events.
From 10am to 7pm, a total of 119 cultural performances were displayed on stage. Beside the performance, donation activities have been already rolled out online and offline, receiving strong support from many schools and enterprises, said Shen Dongdong, vice president of the event organizer.
"It is really meaningful to take part in charities while at the same time showing our artistic talent," said a student of the city's foreign language school. The school is an annual participant of the event and has donated over 6,000 yuan this time.
The donation raised this time will be put into the "Dream Class" project to set up art classes for Juqiao Primary School in the local Tangqiao town.
