To get a thorough understanding of Zhangjiagan's achievement in the education sector, a group of journalists from 40 media organizations from across the country including Xinhua, Guangming and China Daily visited the city on Oct 21.
Their first stop was Nanfeng Primary School, where they visited the classrooms, the scientific center and watched the students' traffic guidance performance. Then the group came to the Nansha Middle School and Zhangjiagang Experimental Primary School.
Yan Yujie, a reporter of China Daily, said, "Nanfeng school is a village school. Though, it can compare with urban schools. What impressed me most, is its focus on traffic education."
Li Shaping, a journalist of GMW.cn praised Zhangjiang's schools for their Jiangnan-garden-style architecture, which help schools keep the traditional culture while developing modern education. "We will make special reports to promote Zhangjiagang's education achievement around the country," Li added.
Over the years, Zhangjiagang has made education development a priority and has won more than 60 honors including the "advanced city for education modernization" in Jiangsu province.
