The first children charity day was held at Zhangjiagang's Museum Square, Jiangsu province, on Dec 21, with more than 100 children taking part and receiving over 10,000 yuan ($1,607) in donations.
The activity involved a charity rummage sale covering stationery, clothes, toys and headdress; a money collection event; and a children's graffiti show. The activity called for more children to care for and help those in need and promoted positive energy in society.
A total of 10,800 yuan ($1,756) was collected, which will be donated to a charity program "Baby Home" to help the poor children. "Baby Home" is one of Zhangjiagang's charity efforts to encourage the poor to support themselves instead of waiting for help.
