My China Dream, a film directed by renowned Tunisian director - Rachid Ferchiou, will be shot partly in Fenghuang town, Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu province in October.
My China Dream is the first Sino-Tunisian co-produced film to commemorate the 50th anniversary this year of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Tunisia.
According to Rachid Ferchiou, Tunisia and China, both with thousands of years of history, are far away from each other but there are many things that connect the two cultures. Ferchiou believes the film will boost Tunisian-Chinese cultural relations.
The 90-min film will have about half its length shot in China. Ferchiou was once fascinated by Suzhou's brick-tile architecture, clean rivers and ancient bridges. However, he ultimately chose to shoot the film in Zhangjiagang as it impressed him with its profound culture and laid back lifestyle.
Zhangjiagang Dong Shan Cultural Transmission Co is also a co-producer of the film, to promote the city's cultural tourism. As a company specializing in producing and publishing comics, it aims to use its investment in the film as an opportunity to enhance its main business.
The filming is scheduled to commence on Oct 6 and hit the screen in 2015. Actress Zhou Weitong has confirmed her performance in the film.
My China Dream tells the story of a young Tunisian woman who has long dreamed of visiting China, where her father stays, since her childhood. She finally gets to come to China to look for her father, where she meets the love of her life.
