The Zhangjiagang administration service center has received 45,111 entry-exit applications by the end of October, an increase of 29 percent from the same period last year.
The number of applications reached a peak recently as the center received 376 applications in one day. The peak will last until Spring Festival, according to an official from the center.
Fang Yuehua, a resident of Zhangjiagang, said he applied for a travel pass as he planned to travel to Hong Kong. He thought the process was complicated but found it convenient with the help of staff at the service center.
The Zhangjiagang administration service center established a self-service area and opened online applications this year. It encourages citizens to send applications online to save time. Staff at the center also tell applicants when and how to pick up their passes.
