Wuxi boy wins chess championship

Wei Yi, a 16-year-old boy from the city of Wuxi, Jiangsu province, won the Sports Lottery Cup Chess Tournament held in Taizhou, Zhejiang province, on Nov 30.
Wei, with his calmness and perseverance, rallied from a deficit and defeated his opponent in the final, and has become the youngest chess champion in the country.

As a rising star, the Wuxi boy became the youngest Grand Master in 2013 and the youngest player to reach 2,600 points in the world ranking. He participated in the 41st World Chess Olympics in 2014 and helped the national team win the men's gold.
The former Wuxi New District, now known as Wuxi Xinwu district or Wuxi National Hi-tech district, was founded in 1992 and underwent administrative changes in 1995, 2002 and 2005.
