Sunan Shuofang Airport in Wuxi, Jiangsu province, has confirmed on Feb 11 that it will become the fourth destination of Hong Kong Express Airways (HK Express) in the Chinese mainland since April, following Kunming, Ningbo and Zhengzhou, the Wuxi Daily reported.
As the only budget airline in Hong Kong, HK Express has reputation for its low fares, safety and flight punctuality. It will launch four scheduled flights between Wuxi and Hong Kong every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday since April 10.
With the inauguration of the flight, people in Wuxi and South Jiangsu can not only visit Hong Kong at lower costs, but also fly to tourist resorts such as Chiangmai, Phuket and Siem Reap via Hong Kong with the airline's comprehensive flight network in Southeast Asia.
Since foreign airlines were authorized to land in the Wuxi airport by the central government in 2014, a number of foreign airlines have been seeking cooperation with the airport. So far, the airport has introduced South Korea's Asiana Airlines and Cambodia's Angkor Airways and has been serving Wuxi-Seoul and Wuxi-Siem Reap routes.
The former Wuxi New District, now known as Wuxi Xinwu district or Wuxi National Hi-tech district, was founded in 1992 and underwent administrative changes in 1995, 2002 and 2005.
