The Seamaster 23rd ITTF Asian Table Tennis Championships (ITTF-ATTC) got underway at Wuxi Stadium on April 9, with national teams fighting it out in the first round.
A highlight of Day 1 was the South Korean women's match against DPR Korea, with the former team winning their way through to the semifinals.
The South Korean men's team also won through against a strong challenge from Hong Kong, qualifying for the semifinals.
Coached by Kim Taeksoo, players Lee Sangsu, Jang Woojin and Jeoung Sangeun of the South Korean men's team, came back from 0-2 against Hong Kong's Ho Kwan Kit, Wong Chung Ting and Jang Tianyi to win 3-2.
The semi-finals of both the men's team and women's team events will be played on April 11.
A total of 248 athletes from 29 countries and regions are taking part in the biennial event over the next eight days.
