Under the support of the National Health and Family Planning Commission, Wuxi established a healthcare IoT research institute and started a demonstration project for residents’ health information management and application. It is an open platform that can meet the service needs of a population of 1 million.
The pilot projects in Wuxi have also been promoted in other regions.
An increasing number of application demonstration projects are run and operated under the market mechanism, rather than being led by local government, local officials said.
As the promotion and application of IoT technologies continues to increase in Wuxi, a batch of key technologies and industry standards have emerged, which provide good examples for more IoT businesses across the country, said Gao Yaguang, director of Wuxi Economy and Information Technology.
With IoT technologies used in a wide range of industries, such as transportation, environment protection, security, residential communities and agriculture, a group of local enterprises have already promoted their technologies and products abroad.
They have undertaken or participated in IoT application projects in more than 200 cities in 17 countries and regions.
Among them, Wuxi Xijing substation constructed a substation IoT system, which combines the functions of intelligent monitoring, auxiliary control, intelligent judgment, management and verification. It is China’s first 220,000 kilovolts intelligent substation, and related technological data have been included into national network standards.
The project experience has also been applied to renovations of more than 150 domestic smart substations.
Also, Envision Energy developed a smart wind farm management system and has thus become the first Chinese company to provide wind farm management services in the US.
An emergency inventory system developed by Wuxi WuxunTech won the best prize at a US IoT conference, and has been used in the Qinshan nuclear power plant.
