Nike Sports (China) Co donated customized shoes to medical workers in Suzhou, Jiangsu province on Feb 9.
Nike Sports (China), headquartered in Taicang, Jiangsu province, managed to prepare 260 pairs of shoes for medical workers serving in Hubei province, where the outbreak was first reported.
Nike Sports (China) Co is one of the biggest foreign-invested companies in Taicang and has made significant contributions to the local economy.
In 1996, Nike set up its first Chinese subsidiary in Taicang. In 2011, the Nike China Logistics Center in Taicang became the biggest of its kind in Asia. In January 2019, the sports giant put the third phase of the logistics center into operation.
In order to carry out the donation, the Taicang headquarters first got in contact with the medical team to collect the necessary information and then quickly readied the shoes from nearby stores and warehouses.
On Feb 4, Nike Sports (China) donated 10 million yuan to the China Youth Development Foundation to aid China in its fight against the novel coronavirus pneumonia.
