Constructed in the period of Emperor Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), the garden was where Wang Xijue, the royal consultant in the dynasty, used to appreciate plum blossoms and handle governmental affairs; therefore, it was also called "Royal Consultant's Mansion".
Now, the reconstructed scenic spots are Xiuxue Hall, Xiangtao Pavilion, Flower-planting Place, Crane and Plum Hall, Dahuan Pavilion, Gallery, Nine-Curved Bridge, Pond Shadow Pavilion, Well Pavilion and an arch over gateway.
