The studio's establishment received support from Kunshan opera professionals in China, including Yue Meiti, a prominent actress and mentor to Yu; Yang Shousong, a writer and Kunqu opera researcher; and Pai Hsien-yung, one of the most recognized Chinese novelists and a devotee of reviving the centuries-old Kunqu opera for modern times.
