Eight-treasure rice pudding (babaofan)

The eight-treasure rice pudding, or babaofan, is a traditional Chinese dessert served on Chinese New Year. People enjoy its sweet, honey-like taste, and the suggestion of a happy life symbolized by the auspicious eight treasures, namely red glutinous rice, jujube, lotus seed, kumquat, raisin, walnut kernel, melon seed, and red bean paste.
