Zhouzhuang, the renowned water town in East China's Jiangsu province, was ranked as one of the best scenic spots during the National Day holiday.
Issued by the National Tourism Administration on Oct 9, the authority also praised a list of travel agencies, tour guides and staff for their considerate services.
Thanks to the local government's active promotion of tourism that gives visitors a real experience of the region's distinctive culture, the local tourism sector appears to be doing well.
According to the Zhouzhuang tourism authority, a series of services were set to cater to the different needs of more than 370,000 tourists this year, including seven temporary parking lots with capacity for over 1,000 vehicles, along with rapid-charging stations and shuttle buses leaving every 15 minutes.
Some 145 policemen, medics and volunteers were always ready to help – giving directions, carrying luggage and providing medical aid. A scenic spot staff member even jumped into the water without any hesitation, to help pick up a tourist's cell phone, winning much praise from the visitor.
