The water town of Bacheng will play host to the first China bamboo flute festival on June 22.
The bamboo flute is believed to have a cleansing effect on the soul in traditional Chinese musical theory. The musical instrument has a profound fan base in China. Talented Chinese flutist Chen Dongbao will take part in the festival, along with top flute performers from across China, including Zhan Yongming, Lin Wenzeng and Hu Yulin.
Hu Yulin, a young lecturer at Capital Normal University, will give a solo performance of Bacheng Shui Xiang (Bacheng Waters and Dreams).
A total of 14 performances will be staged at the town's culture center from 7:30 pm on the day.
The Jiangsu Performing Arts Group will provide music accompaniments for the bamboo flute performances. Conducting the performances will be Wang Aikang, top composer and member of the Chinese Musicians' Association.
The festival is sponsored by the bamboo flute society at the Chinese Musicians' Association and Bacheng town tourism authorities. It aims to offer a place for music enthusiasts to get together.
Also located in the town is the Dongbao Flute House, where Chen Dongbao keeps his precious collection of bamboo flutes.
Tickets to the festival are now for sale at the Damai.cn.
