Ice and snow cultural festival set to open in Baotou
An ice and snow cultural festival will open in Guyang county, Baotou, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on Jan 1, 2017, in order to boost winter tourism to the county, reports Baotou Daily.
Hosted by the people’s government of Baotou, the two-month festival will run until Feb 28, highlighting ice and snow sculptures, light shows, local food fairs and artistic performances.

The festival will cover an area of 300,000 square meters. The ice and snow sculptures will be more than 40,000 cubic meters, and be jointly made by Baotou and Harbin, Heilongjiang province.
The food fair will display well-known local snacks including shumai and chatang, as well as agricultural products and imported goods from Mongolia and Russia.
Also, ice sports will be organized during the festival including snowmobile racing and bumper cars on ice.
