The micro film Parents and the oaks picked up top prizes at the closing ceremony of the 5th Beijing International Micro Film Festival on Dec 20.

Thanks to stellar performances by actor Zheng Hao and actress Zhang Moxi, the film received critical acclaim.

However, it is not the first time for the micro film to win big at film award ceremonies. It took the Best Micro-Film Prize at the 2014-2015 China International Micro-Film Ceremony in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region on Oct 30. The cast's "outstanding performances" received high praise during the event.

Parents and the oaks is based on two oak trees in North Weapon Park. It portrays real stories of the old-generation of workers in Baotou's military industry. It praises the great contribution and painstaking efforts of several generations in national defense.

 

The prize-winning work is part of the micro film series "Memories in Lucheng City (Baotou)", which depicts cityscape, its modernity, fashion, habitability, greening and ecology, and the history and future of Baotou.
