The hospital was founded in 1957, with a construction area of 100,000 square meters and a fixed asset base of 500 million yuan ($79 million). It has 1,680 beds, and receives approximately 500,000 outpatients every year.

It has developed more than 100 research projects during the last three years, including a project on nephrology ranked as a national key clinical project and a leading one in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

It has won many honors, including being named a “National civilized institution” and a “National advanced group of the medical and healthcare system”.
