Shiguai district has an industrial heritage and is abundant in natural resources and minerals, such as coal, silica, kaolin, limestone and dolomite.

The district will devote more attention to improving income of urban and rural residents, attracting more investment and promoting innovation within social management. It will do this to establish an economic-society transformation demonstration zone in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
