On the morning of December 19, 2013, Thongsing Thammavong, Lao Prime Minister, inspected the Houay Lamphan Gnai Hydropower Station project undertaken by CGGC.

Lao Prime Minister inspects Houay Lamphan Gnai Hydropower Station Project.

He listened to the report made by the responsible person of the branch of CGGC in Laos about the progress of the project and inspected the dam construction site and the immigrant village. He was very satisfied with the progress of the project, which is expected to be completed half a year ahead of the schedule. He was accompanied by the responsible persons of the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Planning and Investment, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the Central Bank, General Office of the State Council, State Electric Power Corporation as well as relevant leaders of Sekong Province.

Located in Sekong Province, the project is expected to, upon completion, improve the power supply of the southern part of Laos, satisfy the demand for electric power of industry, agriculture and daily life in Champassak, Sekong, Attapu and Saravance, reduce electric power import from the neighboring countries during the dry season and increase electric power export to the neighboring countries during the wet season. By making use of the concessional loans from the Chinese government, the project officially kicked off on November 8, 2010. Now, it goes smoothly and is highly praised.
