Updated: 2013-10-12

On Oct 9 the CEEC-constructed Pakistan Jinnah Hydropower Station was connected to the power grid, with all of its eight generating units put into commercial operation.

Construction of the power station was commenced in December 2006, and the first generating unit began to supply power to the grid in January 2012. After two months’ trial operation, the last two units were connected to the grid on Oct 9, 2013.

As a major national power project in Pakistan, the Jinnah Hydropower Station is of great significance for easing the country’s power shortage. It is a low-water-head tubular turbine power station equipped with 8*12MW pit-type tubular turbine units, reaching a total installed capacity of 96 MW.
