Ren Jianguo holds talks with Argentinean President

On Aug 21 local time, the Argentinean government announced to award the contract of Nestor Kirchner-Jorge Cepernic Hydropower Project on the Santa Cruz river in Argentina to the consortium comprised of CGGC and local companies. On the same day, Ren Jianguo, CGGC vice general manager and CGGC International president, held talks with Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, the president of the Argentine Republic, at Rio Gallegos, the capital of Santa Cruz province.

During the meeting, Mr Ren introduced the history, general conditions and international market development of CGGC. He said that CGGC hoped to take the opportunity of the hydropower project to play a big role in the economic development and improvement of the people’s livelihood of Argentina by relying on its rich experience in international projects, and vowed to deliver a successful and satisfactory project to the government and the people of Argentina and make contributions to the China-Argentina friendship.

President Fernandez highly commended CGGC for its abundant experience in international projects and strong technical strength and management capability, as well as the CGGC’s efforts made for the economic development and improvement of the people’s livelihood of Argentina. She pointed out that the hydropower project is crucial to Argentina, CGGC had undertook numerous large-scale infrastructure projects across the world and thus creating a brand image of “focusing on high quality and keeping faith” and gaining good reputation. She believed that the project would become a symbol of CGGC and anticipated further cooperation with companies with strong strength including CGGC.

Located in Santa Cruz province in southern Argentina and with an installed capacity of 1,740MW, upon completion, the hydropower station is expected to give a strong impetus to social and economic development of Argentina, assist the country in exporting electricity to its neighboring countries that are plagued by power shortage, and become a national key project of Argentina.
