The first generator unit rotor of Kapichila Hydropower Station successfully installed

On June 2, the first generator unit (Unit No. 3) rotor of Phase II Project of Kapichila Hydropower Station was successfully installed by CGGC Malawi Project Department.

The rotor measured 110 tons in weight, 5.7 meters in diameter and 1.5 meters in height. Up to now, installation of Unit No.3 and No.4, electrical equipment in workshops, and the substation west of Blantyre have been launched on schedule.

Kapichila Hydropower Station sits 70 kilometers southwest of the commercial city Blantyre. Phase II Project includes two 32MW turbo-generator units. CGGC undertakes installation and debugging of the two units and auxiliary equipment, camp building, and supporting civil construction.
