CGGC wins the bid for 4.854 billion Hydropower Project in Sudan

Recently CGGC and Dams Implementation Unit (DIU) of Sudan entered into the EPC Contract for Shereik Hydropower Station in Beijing.

Nie Kai, vice general manager of CGGC, and Mutazz, executive officer of DIU signed the contract on behalf of the two parties.

Located in the upper stream of Nile River in North Sudan, Sudan Shereik Hydropower Station is a key project for hydropower development in Upper Nile by Sudan Government. The contract amount is 4.854 billion yuan ($799.51 million), covering civil works construction of dam, overflow dam, spillway dam, riverbed, irrigation canal and power station premises, installation and commissioning of electromechanical equipment, trial run and completion test of the entire power station system with a total installed capacity of 420MW.

At the time of contract signing, Mutazz expressed his gratitude to CGGC for its active role in the development of hydropower industries in Sudan, saying that, Shereik Hydropower Station is a key infrastructure project of significance to the economic development of Sudan, and he has belief in CGGC that with its excellence in water conservancy and hydropower sector, there is no doubt that it will complete Shereik project successfully. He also said that Sudan has rich resources and he hoped that CGGC would play a more important role in its development of water conservancy and hydropower industry.
